I wanted to make a video that highlights a more important way of looking at growing climates when it comes to growing annual vegetables. Rather than focusing on extreme minimum winter temperatures,, where not many annuals will be in the ground anyway, it is far more important to know the growing window you have

Polytunnel Growing Masterclass For Beginners 2024
Finally, one of the big garden channels singing the praises of the honeycomb tomato. I've been growing it since 2019, it's the best! And it seems like almost nobody knows about it or grows it.
Absolutely agree, I had a volunteer Tom grown in my strawberry bed without pruning suckers a single plant produced over 15kg tomatoes. It was well over 6 feet trailing on the ground without any support. As a result it grew additional roots where it had direct contact with soil.
Mini lod skool greenhouse ❤
i dont think nettles, dandilions and thistles are weeds! ohhh no! they are medicine!
Everyone: stop smoking so much weed Me: There's no such thing as a weed
I got my book in the mail as a surprise for mother's day. I opened the box and literally jumped! Haha I'm super excited to read it and add it to our library!
Just got my book and am very happy with its contents. Its like it cleared a road block I was having with my space. I’m very excited for the weekend to make my first raised beds.
BOOK HELP! Some of the garden structure you say what size you've made for your garden, such as the hoop house, hot beds, and hoop beds. But your other raised beds have left me guessing. I know that I will need to make some adjustments, although I have the land to do your exact layout... for example I need wider paths for a wheelbarrow. But I need a starting point, since you are very exact with your planting (so many cm apart, with one in the middle...). Do you have a layout of your garden beds with measurements? At the very least, what is the measurement of your standard raised bed?
The problem of many yt videos is also that they can lead the beginner to believe that everything is easy and picturesque and that you can fix or correct everything. My garden dreams made me ignore the reality that the only spaces available to me at that time for growing were unsuitable for most of those dreams and not really fixable by means within reason. I ended up putting in so much effort, trying to make it work, rather than say: this is what I have to work with, maybe let's not try to grow xyz, because it is not going to be satisfying or efficient. I ended up giving all my free time of two seasons to a veggie field and the yield was terrible, I neglected myself, during the hot summers often ate at 11 or 12 pm after rescueing and watering everything, stopped other hobbies that had previously brought me joy and since then it is a lot harder for me to relax or enjoy gardening work, during the frustrating seasons I still put myself under the pressure to not give up on that harvest, but I started seeing it as a chore, as something that makes it impossible to go away for even a short holiday anywhere between april and october. so if you just don't have the right conditions, step it down, play it safe, grow things where not much can go wrong or if it does go wrong where at least you didn't put in a whole bunch of time and money and you can always expand next year if you know that it works well.
The mental and physical health gained from gardening and eating organic, regenerative produce, is priceless.
Very true on the first point... I grew my first tomatoes out of curiosity and that was it. Ended up building a whole greenhouse devoted to them and barely eat any out of season now. I will say you can get some okay supermarket tomatoes these days but they're expensive and very inconsistent.
I just walk mine off the property and into the wood opposite ... not all slugs eat our favorite veggies some clean up for us and some eat one another
Oh man, the automatic captions on this video are so, so wrong.
I been using egg shells for decades, does the job
Fenel greens tea is very good against indigestion and trapped gas
Ducks !
You mention "rain can cause soil compaction" I'm struggling so think how does that happen?
I found that if you put the grass clippings in a bucket then add boiling water, let it sit overnight you can just use that to water your garden… it’s like a super green juice 👍
In Australia 🇦🇺 never pruned tomatoes growing up so I haven't as an adult. Last year was steaking the extra growth and got loads of tomatoes way more than we could eat and so was constantly making tomato relish through the season next time will experiment more with making sauce and bottling it.
I received your book this afternoon! Phenomenal! Great job!
For tiny ones like Petit Moineau, I leave the suckers and I get way more tomatoes.
One year I let a cheery tomatoe go wild and it had better production than all the rest. So now I don’t do much pruning cheery tomatoes. Tried that with other tomatoes and ended up with quite a mess. But I think over all more production.
Would this book be helpful if you live in the southern hemisphere?
Nettles are delicious steamed then sauteed with garlic& olive oil,or mixed in with scrambled eggs .they are also loaded with iron.which is great.
I love the editing of this video.... very English and very well done
Very interesting. Shame about so many ads I am forced to hear....and they can't be skipped. 😏
I absolutely LOVE Adam's philosophy regarding self sufficiency is perfect. Time stamp 19:04.
They are not hacks, they are tips.
How do you keep rats out of it?
Such an important message! 💚 some folks don’t understand the zones and what they really mean.
Is anaerobic decay the goal here or would such a setup benefit from a bubbler pump?
I hate nettles. It took years of sewing spuds, they don't like potassium. Eat onions to get the same benefits
Love Nettles!! Delicious ❤
The only problem apart from the sting, is the stench when making compost tea. I use it in my public garden to scare people away sometimes :-D
Fava beans 😂.
Just received your book yesterday here in Canada. Love it!!
Thank you so much!
I got my book yesterday in the states. It looks like a really well done book so far.
Ah that’s where I went wrong last year they grew great in their starter pots but I planted them too far apart it makes sense thank you
Received mine yesterday. Which was the day you released the video. Did not expect day 1 delivery. Nice job. Book looks great. I will take time to read it.
too hard to understand most of this guy's words
Just got my book today in the U.S. can’t wait to look through it!
Funny how we find all these ways to reproduce what happens naturally. I've been playing with aquaponics, sustainable fish tanks, and resurrection jars (and previously, worm bins and compost tea). We're really just reproducing different sections of the ecosystem, so we can feed the waste product of that imbalance to the section of the ecosystem that needs that the most. If you just put them in the right order, it's really just a river...
Love it! Doesn't quite apply to those who don't have frost. For us tropical gardeners, it is the beginning and end of our dry seasons and the elevation we are growing at. Definitely a good rule of thumb for any kitchen garden in temperate climates.
Got your book through Amazon yesterday. Love how it's laid out and presented, very easy to learn from and follow. Our weather here in my part of Canada has been the same, cool and wet so far. Really hoping for warmer weather soon, it's been too cool to put my tomatoes and peppers out so far.
Where do you live. It looks peaceful
Does it have oxalate?
Such a cool project! I really like where you are going with it. I love the idea of growing only on what I really want to eat, but it seems I keep adding more explorations and trials!
pls keep us updated I am so excited to see how this looks. florals within veg areas look beautiful, and your camera work is brilliant so I can't wait to see what you do :))
Hey Hey, just bought your book. Love it.
What width beds do you find best? Thanks
